How to be polite

  1. Don’t throw items backwards unless you are chaining at an item set. (Chaining means getting rid of your old items to get fresh ones.)
  2. You can choose to not trail. It’s okay if you do trail, but you might just accidentally hit the player behind you.
  3. Don’t intentionally run into other racers with a star or bullet bill.
  4. Don’t hit another player to knock them out of a glider! (You can still hit other players to pass them but just don’t ruin their entire race! Getting hit on the ground only stops them for 3 seconds at the most. Getting hit in a glider and causing Lakitu to pick them up and pull them across may stop them for up to 7 seconds! That could be the difference from 1st and a disappointing bottom spot!).

How to be polite while the race loads

  1. After you join a room, you can say “Hello”. The next comment is up to you. You could say, “I’m excited!” “I’m a little nervous…” or “I’ll give it my best shot”.
  2. After the race, if you got a bad placement, be a good sport; say “Good game!”
  3. When somebody else joins, you could say: “Hello!” “Welcome!” Good Luck!” You could also say “Thanks for Playing!” if it’s one of your friends.
  4. Do not have a insulting, inappropriate, or mean usernames.
  5. If you win, you can say, “Good game!” or “That was fun!” If your friend says, “Good luck!” you can reply by saying “Thank you” or “Good luck”. However, if you say “Good luck” after you win, it might be misinterpreted as a slightly mean comment because they can’t beat you. So, choose your comment to be clearly polite and show positivity.
  6. On the last race before you leave, you can say, “This is my last game”, “Thanks for playing”, “That was fun!”
  7. Before you leave, you could say, “Bye,” or “Good night,” or “Thanks for playing!” so you let players know you’re leaving and don’t just ghost them.
