Have you ever been driving and then you suddenly get hit by NOTHING?! Here’s why, it’s hard to explain but I’ll do my best!
When you play online, the game predicts your movement to account for various online connections. Here’s an example: On your screen you are four kart-lengths away from the player with triple shells, but on their screen, you are only inches away, so you bump into them and get hit.
So how do you benefit from strong lag?
On a turn, throw a green shell or any straight traveling item in front of the player ahead of you and you will almost always hit them. You see, their hitbox could already be farther ahead on their screen, so the item hits.
